Ultrasound examination

Ultrasonic testing (UT) of steel is a non-destructive testing process that typically uses very short ultrasonic waves (high frequency sound energy) at frequencies (0.1 to 15 MHz, although sometimes they reach as high as 50 MHz. The frequency range for common metals is 1 to 4 MHz.
