Steel

Steel - an alloy of iron with carbon and other elements, plastically worked and heat-treatable, with a carbon content not exceeding 2.11%, which corresponds to the limit solubility of carbon in iron (for alloy steels, the carbon content may be much higher). Carbon in steel most often occurs in the form of lamellar pearlite. Sometimes, however, especially with higher carbon contents, cementite occurs in the form of balls surrounded by ferrite grains.
