Spring steel

Spring steel – steel used to produce springs, springs and torsion bars. Such steels are characterized by elasticity and high strength. For low-responsibility mechanisms, spring steels are used, which are carbon steels containing 0.6–0.85% carbon. When producing steel for more responsible structures, steels containing alloy additions[1] of the elements silicon (marked with the symbol S), manganese (G), chromium (H) and vanadium (F) are used. Most spring steels are characterized by an increased content of silicon, which, apart from deoxidation, affects the elasticity of the hardened steel.
