Oxidation resistance

The resistance of the alloy to oxidation depends on the formation of an adjacent surface layer of stable oxides, which creates a barrier as impermeable as possible in one direction to the entry of gas molecules from the environment and in the other direction to the diffusion of metal ions from the underlying alloy.
