Hydrogen embrittlement

Hydrogen embrittlement (HE) is the permanent loss of ductility in a metal or alloy caused by the occlusion of hydrogen atoms in the structure. This, combined with loading or tensile stress, can lead to brittle fracture after a period of time (delayed fracture).
