High carbon steel

High-carbon steel – the strongest of this division. The high carbon content (up to 0.6%) affects the cutting and bending resistance of this alloy. Therefore, it is ideal for the production of e.g. springs. It can be heat treated to harden it, but this increases its susceptibility to crushing.
