Fatigue limit

Material fatigue is characterized by the fatigue limit and fatigue strength. The fatigue limit (called permanent or unlimited fatigue strength) is the highest value of variable stress which, with an unlimited number of cycles of variable load, does not cause cracking of the material sample; Fatigue strength (also called limited fatigue strength) is the highest stress value that does not cause cracking after a specified number (usually 106–108) of variable load cycles.
